Try to rectify a mistake by moving a single matchstick, to get the correct equation.

The following equation is made of 11 matches:
XI - V = IV (more solutions)

The following equation is made of 11 matches:
X + V = IV (more solutions)

The following equation is made of 10 matches:
L + L = L (more solutions)

The following equation is made of 12 matches:
VI = IV - III (more solutions)

The following equation is made of 14 matches:
XIV - V = XX

The following equation is made of 11 matches:
IX - IX = V

The following equation is made of 12 matches:
X = VIII - II

The following equation is made of 7 matches:
VII = I

The Bacteria

On the 1st day of July  a one (1) gallon container contains just 1 bacteria and the amount of bacteria doubles everyday and according to the scientist on the 16th of July the container will be filled with the bacteria.
The question is: On what day the bacteria would be half the container?

 A man is going to the 12th floor of the building and on each floor the guard takes the half of his money and give him 1 dollar. So how much money did he brought that he only have 2 dollars left in him after he reached the 12th floor?

Answers to the post on July 23, 2010


Answer to Brothers and Sisters:
Since the boy has many brothers as sisters, there must be 1 boy more than the number of girls. If we try 2 and 1, 3 and 2, and 4 and 3 we will find that 4 boys and 3 girls is the solution to fulfill the requirement that each girl has twice as many brothers as sisters. 

Answers to Going to the market:
Just I myself! Only I was going to the market and I met all the others coming from the opposite direction.
